Pre-purchase examinations
Our vets provide a comprehensive and experienced service for vetting both performance and leisure horses. Guided by our clinicians clients can be advised as to the most appropriate type of vetting for their needs. We are available for both two and five stage vettings with additional x-rays and imaging should they be required. Our vets are available for vettings at the clinic, across Northern Ireland and further afield.
Surgical Laser
Our advanced Class 4 laser offers both surgical and therapeutic applications, allowing us to remove selected sarcoids, warts, melanomas and other skin masses with precision, while also promoting healing, reducing pain and supporting recovery from tendon, ligament and other soft tissue injuries.
Radiography, ultrasonography and endoscopy
Our advanced imaging modalities allow us to diagnose and treat a range of orthopaedic and soft tissue ailments or injuries. Our state of the art veterinary x-ray machine allows us to be fully mobile, provide diagnosis and treatments at your yard and deal with any emergencies requiring imaging at the site of the incident. It allows us to travel to vettings requiring full sets of x rays on the yard saving clients the need to arrange transport. The speed of image acquisition, diagnostic quality and portability will allow us to offer a superior diagnostic tool to our client base far and wide.
Routine dentistry
The practice provides a wide range of dental treatments from routine rasping and wolf tooth extraction to diagnostics of more advanced dental conditions.
Using our high definition endoscope cameras or xray, we aim to get to the very root of your horses possible dental issues. And with our range of advanced dental treatment tools, dental corrections and extrations can be carried out in the comfort of your horse or Donkeys own stable,
Ambulatory orthopaedic, poor performance and lameness assessments
Lameness examinations can be conducted both at your yard or at the clinic. We advise more in-depth examinations are conducted at KR Equine. The purpose built ménage, lunge pens and variety of trotting surfaces allow for a consistent, thorough and precise orthopaedic evaluation of your horse. Assessment, palpation, nerve blocking and imaging can all be conducted at the clinic. Your horse can even be left with us for the duration of the work up to allow you flexibility, and our vets the time, to conduct a thorough examination.
In house laboratory
Having installed state of the art Idexx laboratory machines we now have the ability to run in house blood tests allowing for same day results for a number of conditions. The Idexx Catalyst One biochemistry machine allows us to run full or selected biochemical profiles including muscle, liver and kidney parameters, proteins and electrolytes. The Idexx Laser Cyte Dx provides us with a full analysis of red and white cells allowing for measurements of hydration status, levels of infection and anaemia.

Stud medicine
Individual assessment of each mare and her breeding requirements is essential in achieving and maintaining a healthy pregnancy. We provide services for both fresh and chilled insemination, management of the problem mare and pregnancy diagnosis.

In recent years the equine veterinary industry has seen significant developments in the diagnosis and treatment of equine gastric ulcers. We are pleased to say we have not been left behind and are now offering gastroscopy, and exciting new treatment options, here at KR Equine.

At our clinic our purpose built facilities allow us to conduct a wide range of minor surgical procedures. Should your horse or pony need advanced surgical treatments we will refer them to one of our clinical associate specialists we work closely with.
